Barr. Garduya Gamiya Bawa Esq is now the Solicitor General of the Federal Capital Territory Administration.

The Minister of Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Mallam Muhammad Bello, has appointed Barr. Garduya Gamiya Bawa Esq, of the FCT Legal Services Secretariat as the new Solicitor-General of the Federal Capital Territory Administration to succeed Barrister Yusuf Wodi, who is due to retire from service on October 1, 2022.

The new appointment is contained in a letter dated August 4, 2022 by the Director, Human Resource Management, Muhammad Bashir, on behalf of the FCT Permanent Secretary, Mr. Olusade Adesola.

Wodi is to proceed on his three months pre-retirement leave.

According to a statement by the Director Information and Communication, FCT, Muhammad: “Barrister Bawa was born on February 28, 1968, in Donga Local Government Area of Taraba State. The new Solicitor-General attended Dauda-Kwancha Primary, Donga, and Government Secondary School Takum both in Taraba State.

“Mr. Bawa also attended College of Preliminary Studies, Yola before proceeding to the Ahmadu Bello University Zaria for a Law Degree programme in 1988. He was called to the Nigerian Bar in 1992 and had his National Youth Service Corps between 1992 -1993.

“The new Solicitor-General is a member of many professional bodies including the Nigerian Bar Association, and Institute of Chartered Mediators and Conciliators among others.

“Barrister Bawa attended several local and international training including training at the Royal Institute of Public Administration (RIPA), London.

“Before his appointment, Barrister Bawa was the Director Legal Services, Land Administration / Abuja Geographic Information Systems (AGIS)”.

FGC Wukari 1994 Class Donates Modern Water Facility to Alma Mater

The 1994 graduating class of Federal Government College (FGC) Wukari, Taraba State, has donated a modern water facility to the school for the use of both staff and students. This initiative was driven by the rising concerns over poor water supply in the college. The project, brought to fruition through the contributions of the 1994 alumni who have since established themselves in various fields, was officially handed over to the school management on August 24, 2024, by representatives of the class. Speaking at the handover ceremony, Professor Shishi Zhema, the current Vice-Chancellor of Kwararafa University, Wukari and a member of the 1994 class, reflected on their experiences as students at FGC Wukari. "When we were here, water was a significant challenge for us. We had to go to great lengths just to access clean water. That’s why we felt that addressing the water issue is a major priority for FGC and its host community.
