OH! MY IROKO
Oh! my iroko,
Why did you fall?
Why did you allow the wind to break your heart?
When your name was called in the night,
Like shadow,
You left me in darkness.
Oh! my iroko,
I ask myself,
How true that;
My Calabash broke and i will not longest drink from it.
Oh! my iroko,
At the river bank,
Your footprint were found.
But when i searched and searched for you,
I heard a fading voice of katakpa, masa-ibi and agbunshu all combined calling your name simultaneously.
I realized death has shallow an eagle,
Indeed an iroko has passed.
Oh! my iroko,
Where are you?
