The date is 16th to 18th December, 2022 @ the Gana's family Compound, Kapye Street, Asibiti Ward, Donga - Taraba State.
It is usually celebrated by the family of the deceased person or any person that will succeed or take over the title of the deceased.
It can be celebrated immediately the person passed away or be delayed based on the preceding circumstances at that moment.
For men it is celebrated within three (3) days and in the case of women, this monumental event is celebrated within four (4) days. This is also particularized for core traditionalists.
In the event of distinguished title men in the land, it is the time that the Gara will be formally informed of the passing of his title man and then preparations will be formalized for the coronation of a successor or heir to the throne.
In the third day which is the last day of the occasion, also known as the 'Gara's Day'. The Gara will appear in person for the final rite where the deceased presumed to be transferred to his ancestors.
This is the ideal practice according to the traditional Chamba Cultural practice but in some cases and because of the bearing implications, some title men or families do proceed with the coronation of the heir without performing this very important recourse.
