KUW Appoints Engr. Andrew Yakubu as Pro-Chancellor

Kwararafa University, Wukari Appoints Engr. Andrew Yakubu as Pro-Chancellor and Chairman of the 4th Governing Council of the University

The Board of Trustees (BoT) of Kwararafa University, Wukari has recently announced a new Governing Council to take  full charge of governance at the University and Engr. Andrew Yakubu emerged as Chairman. 
Recall that the University Operates a four-tier governance structure consisting of the Board of Trustees, Governing Council, Management and Senate;  Section 15(a) of the Kwararafa University Law, 2004(as amended in 2015) empowers the Board of Trustees of the University to appoint the Chairman who is also the Pro-Chancellor and Members of the Governing Council of the University. Therefore, the BoT has in accordance with the second schedule statute No.1 section 3 (i) and (ii) constituted a new council at the expiration of a five-year tenure of the 3rd Governing Council led by Dr. Julius Bala sometime last year, the need to appoint the 4th Council became all important to fill up the vacuum.
Announcing the appointment in a joint session of the Board of Trustees and Governing Council at the Senate Chambers of the University in Wukari, His Excellency Dr, S. D Gani CON said, the selection of the council was done base on competency, integrity and proven track record of dedication, commitments and the love for the emancipation of the kwararafa Kingdom. He charged the council to be proactive and diligent in delivering its mandate as that is the only legacy posterity will remember them for. He noted that, the trust and weight of the BoT is now rests on the council.
The 4th Governing Council include external and internal members: Engr. Andrew Yakubu as Chairman and Pro-Chancellor,
2. Prof. Shishi Zhema Ag. Vice-Chancellor and Member
3. Dr. Mrs. Magdalene Agbu Abe Hiko Member,
4. Prof. Anthony Barau Member, 
5. Barr. Ibrahim Kanje Bawa SAN  all as external members and others who are internal members are:
6. Amb. Ode Agi Oko Ph.D
7. Michael Onoja Awoji Ph.D
8. Olalere Victor Dotun CNA
9. Mr. Nuhu Dung Patrick 
10. Mr. Victor Agbatutu Akpevwoghene 
11. Mrs. Sarah S.D Ali Rep Ministry of Education and 
12. Comr. Joshua Agya Nwubu Ag. Registrar and Secretary. 

By law, the council is saddled with the responsibilities of: 1. Appointment of principal officers of the University and to determine the terms and conditions of their service. 2. Consideration and approval of external auditor's report at the end of each year and 3. General control of the policies, finances and properties of the University as well as its public relations.
Accepting the responsibility on behalf of the newly inaugurated Council, the Pro-Chancellor and Chairman of the Council Engr. Andrew Yakubu a seasoned administrator cum philanthropist appreciated the BoT for the trust and confidence reposed on him and the members to serve in this capacity, saying, he is grateful in not small measures because even when it appears he has completed his civil service and had just finished another selfless service with the missionary, this opportunity has called again. He however said, this is another home call to service of his ancestral community and there can never be a thought of rejecting the offer. He then promised to work tirelessly as a team and deliver the best to the Kwararafa Kingdom which he described as the largest and most historic kingdom in Nigeria. 
The joint session ended with courtesy visit to the palace of the paramount ruler of the Kwararafa Kingdom, His Majesty Manu Ishaku Adda Ali Matakitswen, the Aku Uka of Wukari and Chairman, Taraba State Council of Traditional Rulers who is the Visitor to the Kwararafa University, Wukari.
The BoT Chairman presented the 4th Governing Council to the monarch for his royal blessings and the Aku Uka was excited by the choice of the BoT saying that, a lot have happened in the University over the years but he is grateful to God for bringing Engr. Yakubu at this time when the University needed his wealth of experience the most. He prayed for the Pro-Chancellor and his team while showering choices of royal blessings upon them to succeed and liberate the University from its present situation.

FGC Wukari 1994 Class Donates Modern Water Facility to Alma Mater

The 1994 graduating class of Federal Government College (FGC) Wukari, Taraba State, has donated a modern water facility to the school for the use of both staff and students. This initiative was driven by the rising concerns over poor water supply in the college. The project, brought to fruition through the contributions of the 1994 alumni who have since established themselves in various fields, was officially handed over to the school management on August 24, 2024, by representatives of the class. Speaking at the handover ceremony, Professor Shishi Zhema, the current Vice-Chancellor of Kwararafa University, Wukari and a member of the 1994 class, reflected on their experiences as students at FGC Wukari. "When we were here, water was a significant challenge for us. We had to go to great lengths just to access clean water. That’s why we felt that addressing the water issue is a major priority for FGC and its host community.
