Professor Bako Congratulates Governor Agbu Kefas on Victory at Tribunal
Taraba State University Vice-Chancellor, Digital Professor Sunday Paul Bako has congratulated Governor Agbu Kefas (Ph.D) for his victory at the Taraba Governorship Election Petition Tribunal and says victory is well-deserved.
Speaking after the judgement was delivered in Jalingo, the headquarters of the State on Saturday 30th September, 2023, he said Tarabans, the People's Democratic Party (PDP) and Governor Kefas worked very hard for the victory enjoyed at the February 25th
Governorship Election, noting that “the Governorship Election Petition Court’s decision, which was in favour of the Governor Kefas is comforting and also an affirmation of the will of the well-meaning Tarabans who went out to cast their ballots for the PDP and Dr. Agbu as their choice.”
The Digital Professor said “Tarabans have spoken through the ballots and the Court has also proved the decision by her pronouncement, which upheld the victory of the Governor during the 2023 governorship poll and sacked the petition of Prof. Sani Yahaya of the NNPC for lack of merits”.
The VC added that, the good people of Taraba State were not in doubt in respect to the mandate freely given to Agbu Kefas to steer the ship of Taraba for four years based on his track records and laudable
achievements in the military, private life and religious antecedents.
According to Professor S. P Bako, “the transformation going on in all the facet of the State has reflected what the people bargained for and it shows the beauty and advantages of a collective resolved especially in democratic process". Assuring that, Tarabans would reap more dividends of democracy as a reward for their trust in the Governor Agbu Kefas' led administration because for him, all the policies are visible and realistic. Highlighting free education, reduction of tuition fee for tertiary institutions, ban on Illegal mining, initiating strong security watch to fight criminals, payment of pension and gratuity among others are human oriented programmes which the State is in dire need of them now than ever before.
As the VC of TSUJ, he called on his Management Team, Senate, Staff and Students to join hands and support the governor to achieve his vision and aspirations for the University and the State at large.
He reaffirmed “the judicial verdict is a victory for democracy and the rule of law.”
