The new acting Inspector General of @PoliceNG, Tunji Disu, was born on April 13, 1966. That means he is 59 years old. That is just 48 days before attaining the mandatory retirement age of 60. This is added to the fact that he was until his recent appointment an Assistant Inspector General(AIG). Meanwhile, the same NPF has other fine younger officers and even senior to him in rank. Example is Deputy Inspector General of Police, DIG Frank Mba. He is 52 years and senior in rank. Mba still have 8 years in service but with the current situation he and others will retire by force. Now, imagine picking a man who has 48 days, over a man who has 8 years. Imagine all the investments made on all the officers going on early retirements. The reason here is not because he is better, but because he is from Lagos (Yoruba) and someone like DIG Mba is from Enugu (Igbo). He made this assertion following the successful defence of his PhD thesis at School of Postgraduate Studies, Glorious Vision University, Ogwa, Edo State. The three-year research, which began in 2023, was motivated by growing concerns over persistent communication gaps between government agricultural agencies and farmers, particularly at the grassroots. Titled “Taraba State Government Strategic Communication Approaches for Enhancing Agricultural Practices,” the study examines why many well-intended agricultural programmes and policies in the state often fail to achieve long-term impact.
